Mindfulness Meditation
Do you struggle to shift or maintain your focus? Is anger, anxiety, or fear getting in the way? Ease is possible. Mindfulness Meditation is a simple but effective technique to help you feel oriented amidst chaos.
“This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.”
-Rumi
Mindfulness Meditation is a simple technique anyone can learn to turn chaos into calm. I teach mindfulness meditation to therapy clients as well as anyone who wants to learn throughout Utah, Texas, and Colorado.
How Mindfulness Meditation Works
Anchor the attention. The most common anchor is the sensation of the breath moving in and out of the nostrils.
Notice where the attention goes. Practice patience and compassion as you observe the mind doing what minds do.
As the mind becomes distracted (it will!), practice returning to the breath over and over and over.
